Dear Families, Small Businesses, and Individuals of the 36th District,
My name is Doug Wozniak and I would like to officially announce my candidacy for State Representative of the 36th District. The district includes much of Shelby Township, all of Washington and Bruce Townships, and the Village of Romeo. This seat is being vacated by Representative Peter Lucido who has decided to run for the Michigan Senate.
I am a small business owner, attorney, realtor, broker, insurance agent, a Shelby Township Trustee, a husband for 34 years, and a father for 29 years. These professional and personal experiences will serve me well if elected as your next State Representative.
I have been a small businessman for 24 years in Shelby Township. As an experienced attorney, I understand how laws that are made in Lansing directly affect families, businesses, and individuals. I’ll be able to provide my legal experience in becoming an effective law maker.
As a licensed realtor and broker, as well as an insurance agent, I have valuable insight to what families value and need as they choose northwest Macomb County to raise their families in.
I also have experience in government matters as I am currently serving my third term as Shelby Township Trustee. Along with other board members, I have accomplished great things for the township as well as the surrounding communities. I am a public official who firmly believes in common sense conservative principals when making decisions. My voting record has and always will support seniors, veterans, education, small businesses, and home owners.
Finally, I am a husband and father. I have been married to Pamela, the love of my life, for 34 years. Our daughter just graduated from U of M Medical School. She is a product of our pubic schools and graduated high school from Eisenhower. I strongly believe that my personal experiences, business background, and being a public servant will make me a very effective legislator.
When people ask me about how I govern, I tell them that I am a COMMON SENSE CONSERVATIVE. When I became trustee in 2008, Michigan and Shelby Township were in the middle of a recession. The township had a deficit. Quickly we turned a deficit into a surplus WITHOUT RAISING TAXES. I have been an integral part in preserving, maintaining, and building senior based programs in the district. I have been on the frontline helping veterans get the benefits and services they rightfully deserve. I have been a big supporter of our public schools and understand if we are going to keep our adult children employed here and close to home, we need to focus on education and the economy.
There are a lot of very important issues that need attention in Lansing. The 36th District deserves an experienced small business owner, experienced public servant, a family man, and one who already understands the law. I believe my experience will serve the families, small businesses, and individuals very effectively as a state legislator.
I ask you for your friendship, support, and consideration as I begin this journey to become your next State Representative.
Douglas C. Wozniak
